SMS Terms & Consent

Hippo offers an optional text-messaging feature that lets you save notes, links, and photos by texting them, and lets us send you reminders and account notifications. This page explains how that works and how to opt in or out.

How users sign up

  1. Create a Hippo account at get-hippo.com/join with your email address.
  2. Sign in and go to Settings.
  3. Enter your mobile phone number in the "SMS capture" section and click Save.

Submitting your phone number in Settings is the opt-in step. We do not enroll any phone number in texting without it being entered there by the account holder.

What you're agreeing to receive

By providing your phone number and signing up for Hippo, you agree to receive account-related text messages, reminders, and service notifications from Hippo, including:

  • Confirmation that something you texted was saved to your dashboard
  • Reminders you scheduled for entries you saved
  • Account and service notifications (e.g. your number isn't linked yet, your subscription isn't active)

Message frequency varies based on your own use of the feature (reminders you set, messages you send in). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, and HELP for support.

Consent is explicit

No phone number is texted by Hippo unless the account holder explicitly typed it into the Settings page and clicked Save. There is no pre-checked consent, no third-party list import, and no way to enroll a number on someone else's behalf.

Opting out

Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any Hippo text to opt out immediately. You'll get one confirmation text and no further messages. Reply START or UNSTOP to opt back in, or remove your number from Settings at any time.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
